Team Application Form

First, make sure you meet the eligibility requirements.

After that, please fill out and submit the Team Application Form below before midnight on September 30th, 2012.  All applications will be reviewed and the best candidates will be invited to interview the following week (the first week in October).

Unfortunately, you cannot save your progress on the application form, so we strongly suggest you answer the long-form questions in a different text editor (like Word or Notepad) and then copy and paste the text into the appropriate answer field.  This will ensure that you do not lose your answers.

Team Members

Please enter up to 5 team members (more can be added later). Team Member #1 (who will receive future correspondence) must be a student at a public university in the state of Michigan. Other members can be anyone.

Product information*

A product can be a consumer or social good, service, or technology innovation. In 250 words or less, please address the following: What is your proposed product? What need or consumer demand is this product addressing? Are there other products/solutions already addressing this same demand/issue? If so, please list two or three specific examples. (Note: A basic internet search will help answer this question.) How does your product differ from similar, existing products? How does your product improve upon similar, existing products?

Venture Formation and IP*

What is the category you are entering? Do you have a corporate structure yet? You must be able to demonstrate ownership, or access in a manner that can be converted to ownership, to the technology you intend to develop into a venture. Is the venture an extension of a class project, or an independent research project, at a school of any kind?

Target customer*

In 150 words or less, please address the following: Who are the customers and users of this product? What are they doing now without this product? How will they benefit from this product? (List two or three specific benefits.) Who else might benefit from this product?

Current activities*

In 150 words or less, please address the following: What are your venture's current activities? (if any) Have you reached any significant milestones?

Goals*

In 150 words or less, please address the following: What do you hope to get out your participation in the Michigan Clean Energy Venture Challenge? What goals are you expecting to achieve that will be assisted by participating in the competition?
