Skill Building Phase
To give all of the participants of the Clean Energy Venture Challenge the best possible chance for success, they will have the opportunity to take classes in person or online. The classes will teach each member of the team some of the basic skills necessary to launch a new business, which many participants (particularly engineers and researchers) may not have been exposed to in the past. The curriculum will focus on the following important skills:
- Business basics
- Customer discovery
- Creating a business model canvas
- Networking (including customer development)
- Presentation skills (pitch skills)
Contestants may be able to “place out” of one or more of the classes, if they can show equivalent coursework or experience.
